1862 Indian Head Cent, a historic Civil War-era United States one-cent coin struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This coin features the iconic portrait of Liberty wearing a Native American headdress on the obverse and the classic oak wreath reverse with shield. Fine (F-12) to Very Fine (VF-20) Details. The coin displays moderate circulation wear with most major design elements remaining visible. Liberty's portrait, headdress feathers, date, and legends are well defined, while the reverse wreath and shield retain good detail. The surfaces show honest circulation consistent with its age, and no major damage is evident from the photographs. The 1862 issue was struck during the American Civil War and is part of the popular copper-nickel Indian Head Cent series minted from 1859 to 1864. These early copper-nickel examples are highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance and distinctive composition.
